Because, because, because, because, because!

I’ve always been a fan of The Wizard of Oz. But not as much as my cousin Penni—she watched her VHS tape so many times that it stopped working. Yes. VHS. And, yes, we’re that old.  If you’re reading this, I’m sorry for outing you, Penni.

Anyway. Oz. The thought of being able to go someplace magical, and still make it back home, was always appealing to me. So this fabric is special to me. I hope you love it as much as I do.

So let me tell you a bit about this fabric. Usually, I stick to quilting cottons. But this fabric is different. This Oz print is a vintage barkcloth from probably the 1960s. It could be older than that. All I know is that is it awesome and hard to find. Very hard to find. I was lucky to recently score a piece. I had some several years ago and thought I’d never find any again.  This time, I decided to be extra creative and make several different sized bags out of it. Each of these bags is one of a kind. I do have a bit of the fabric left for a couple more bags but they will each be different.

If you are familiar with my standard bag, this one is about an inch shorter. It measures 9.5 inches tall, 3.5 inches deep, and about 14 inches across the top--tapering to about 11.5 inches across the bottom. The shoulder straps are 24" long from end to end so they have a nice 11" drop from the shoulder.

This zipper top bag is designed smaller with a single short strap that is meant to be carried in your hand or at the elbow. The bag measures 8.5 inches tall, 3 inches deep, and about 12 inches across the top--tapering to about 10 inches across the bottom. The single strap is 17" long from end to end with a 7" drop.

This is a little cosmetic bag or clutch. The bag measures 6.5 inches tall, 2 inches deep, and about 8.5 inches across the top--tapering to about 7 inches across the bottom. It even has 2 tiny pockets inside! They are perfect for folded cash or credit cards.

So here's the deal. If you love these bags, don't hesitate. They are one of a kind. I do have a bit more of this fabric but will not duplicate these cuties!
